Intel Asia PC Gaming Showdown: Jali Off To Hong Kong!
Last month, Intel held its 1st Asia PC Gaming Showdown for Media and Gamers. The Champion in each country stand a chance to go to Hong Kong and compete with the other participating country to win their own set of Intel Ultimate Gaming PC. But only the Top 3 in Asia will be able to go to Hong Kong.
Our Malaysia Champion, Rinie “Si_Jali” Ramli manage to put himself among the Top 3 in Asia and will be representing Malaysia against the other Top 2 country which is Thailand and Philippines. It is something to be proud off since other big gaming country such as Korea and Singapore fail to make the cut.
We manage to contact Si_Jali before he leave to Hong Kong this Thursday morning:
Spotgamers: So how is your preparation so far?
Si_Jali : So far so good. I've been practicing quite consistently in all 3 games and I think my preparation is doing well so far.
Spotgamers: Do you have any kind of secret tactics or strategies?
Si_Jali : If I told you it wouldnt be secret anymore right? LOL
Spotgamers: Come on share with us since we all know that you are playing all 3 games and not just FIFA. Definitely its not easy to master it
.
Si_Jali : Well basically im aiming on FIFA and NFS to seal the deal. If I can be on top for this 2 games im 80% closer to be the champion. I just need to get more extra points in Crysis to get my victory. Hopefully it works.
Spotgamers: What are your target in this tournament?
Si_Jali : Everytime I joined a tournament, I always aim for the gold. Nothing else. Because that is where the girls would come to me and scream “ Jali! Jali!” LOL. Anyway its not true though. Only in my dream. I'll definitely try my best.
Spotgamers: Haha well all the best Jali. Make Malaysia proud yea!
Si_Jali : Yeah thanks~
Si_Jali will be updating us time to time with the latest news in Hong Kong. All the best to Jali.

Final Day Recap
The final day of the ESWC Master of Athens so many disappointments. The final day came to an end at around 2200 hours GMT +2 in Athens, Greece.
As said, the Prize money for the competition is 30,000 USD and the top two for the two games, Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne and Quake 3 Arena will have a place at the ESWC Finals in France next year.
So starting of with Quake 3 Arena. The groups are as the following in the end:
Group A | Group B |
AV3K | Cypher |
Spart1e | Rapha |
Fox | RazerJ |
Noctis | K1LLsen |
In the end, the top 2 will be fighting each other in the semi-finals. However, there were disappointments in this game. Firstly, World Champion Av3k was drawn against Rapha and Cypher with Spart1e. Things turn out real bad for both Serious Gaming players when Av3k lost to Rapha 2-0 and Cypher, the ESWC Champion also lost 2-0 to Spart1e. The 2 gamers, being the best in the world has lost. Both of them battled for 3rd place which saw Av3k taking it from his teammate, score 2-1. The finals were played later and Rapha was crowned the Master of Athens beating Spart1e 2-1.
Over in the Warcraft 3 scene, there were also disappointments. The group are as the following in the end:
Group A | Group B |
GG.Tod | MYM.Moon |
mTwAMD.WHO | Lyn |
GG.Hot | SK.Remind |
MYM.Grubby | Check |
Disappointment for Dutch player Grubby as he only managed a win. The top 2 advanced into the semi-finals. The brackets are GG.Tod vs Lyn and MYM.Moon vs Who. GG.Tod fought against the toughest Korean player in the tournament but only managed a win and failed to advanced to the finals losing 2 games to Lyn. Moon, from a recent interview said that he is going to win this tournament. But spills the first game to Who but strongly hold on to himself and take back 2 more to play Lyn in the finals, score 2-1. Third placing when to Tod who pulled 2 games out of 1 from Who the ESWC Champion and what a disappointment for him. The finals saw Lyn having no mercy beat Moon 2-0 and claim the title.
Our local WC3 player the 1st runner up in WCG.MY 2008 SiN[Pin.zz] were following very closely on the tournament.
For him who was also an Orc user, it was mere luck that the Orc races were lucky through out the tournament:
”It was just lucky for Orc to win. Orc usually cookie cut all the time where Orcs only go with one strategy which is Raider and Spirit Walkers. But Orc has no change in the new patch. There were no nerf and buff towards the Orc race but there are nerfs like the Staff nerf and Tower nerf which may affect that specific race. And the new maps that are released supports Orcs but not all maps do.”
Congratulations to all the winners.

Interview : FIFA08 Champion, [WInDs] Vin
Here it goes :
Spotgamers : Hi, can you briefly introduce yourself?
Vin : Hmm.... I'm who I am ;)
Spotgamers : Congratulation on your victory at the WCG.MY 2008. What is your feeling after winning your first WCG title?
Vin : It was unbelievable that i avenged after losing final against my clanmate, loonatic in WCG06 and of course I'm pleased to win my first WCG title.
Spotgamers : I guess this is your second title after WGT 2007,do you think the victory and experience of winning WGT 2007 help you to achive this year WCG title??By the way, will you be joining this year WGT to defend your title?
Vin : Yeah, it's my second title after WGT07, and yes, experience is very important on every matches especially stage game. Yupz, I'll be joining WGT08 to have a warm up before leaving to Germany for WCG Grand Final and will try my best to defend my WGT title.
Spotgamers : So, u finally had your revenge after losing to Loon4tic in WCG2006 after taking a HUGE lead in the final and conceeded the victory to him that year. Does the score line this year make it a sweeter revenge as u beat him in the winner's bracket final and also the final with a big margin?
Vin : Haha, our war record now is 7-7 if not mistaken.
Spotgamers : The Grand finals for WCG is approaching soon, how is your preparation for it(What do you do for your training? How long do you train?...etc)
Vin : It's coming very very soon but i only have 1 month for my training due to my final exam. Luckily i got my friendly [WInDs]bros giving out their time to have an intensive training with me to prepare for the Grand Finals.
Spotgamers : This will be your first international tournament. We know that you are an experience player, but do you feel nervous ?or more excited?
Vin : Can play with many of the other top gamers from different countries, of course i feel more excited than nervous lolz...
Spotgamers : What target do you set for yourself for the Grand finals? How confident you are to achive it?
Vin : I just hope i can go through the group stage, then anything can happened. Hopefully i can get a medal back for Malaysia.
Spotgamers : Who is your favourite player in fifa08?Why??(let me guess....Messi??=P)
Vin : Thierry Henry, i like it when he places his shot. The pattern and style are totally same as real life, shoot to far post ^^. Evra also not bad, i like to use him when i'm using France.
Spotgamers : You will be going to germany soon, looking forward to the competition, and also german chics i assume??=P.
vin : Hahahaha....
Spotgamers : Lastly, our best record in World Grand Finals is top4, do you think u can go further than that??
Vin : The best record was made by my teammate, [WInDs]Si_jali. I hope i can go further than that :D
Spotgamers : Thanks for the interview, we wish you all the best for the Grand finals in Germany, hope you enjoy yourself and would bring some good news back for us in Malaysia!
Vin : You're welcome, i'll update you guys on the latest news if my laptop is able to access to the internet there :D.
