World Cyber Games Malaysian Championship Final Day

Yesterday was the final day to see who from Malaysia is going to Cologne, Germany. It has been a tough weekend for most gamers and finally all their hardwork and practice will tell them how well they have been doing. There were many actions and upsets in this years World Cyber Games as many reigning champions were defeated.

The first upset of the year was when reigning champion Forza hands over the title to fellow rival M1-Heaven in Need For Speed Prostreet. This is the first time after 2 years Forza is beaten in the WCG. M1-Heaven has finally achieved his revenge from the Celgames and the WCG Asian Championship Qualifiers which he lost it both to Forza.

Next game up was Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. Again another upset as defending champion [r0r1]Alpha was beaten by the same person that beat him in the Celgames, VicViper. The final showdown was between VicViper and Viral.V2 which saw Vic taking the gold medal on the map Dustbowl. As he was from the winners bracket, he had a one game advantage. Congrats VicViper.

Up next was the Starcraft match where defending champion and the world top 16 Starcraft player JohnRambo take on fellow mate Marine[F2F]. It was a good showdown where intense micro and macro comes together. The first game was played on the map Othello where it was all about wraith and goliath micro. 1-0, Johnrambo leads. The final map was Andromeda where it was all packed with action when JohnRambo attack a small army of siege tanks and goliath from all directions. That game ended not further later and congrats to JohnRambo who is going to Germany.

After the Starcraft game, it was followed by another Blizzard game, Warcraft III. Repeating what happen in the WGT last year, the final was between SiN[Pin.ZC] and Ct.XreV-Serry. Paulyan' lost to Serry in the loser bracket finals and lost his hope to represent Malaysia for the 6th time. Pin had a one set advantage but Serry has nothing. The first set was played with the following maps GnollWood,Turtle Rock and Terenas Stand. Game 1 was played well by Pin and he is now one up. If he wins Turtle Rock, he goes to Germany. But the tide turns when Serry takes the next 2 games and its now even. Another Best of 3 will be played with the maps Terenas Stand, Echo Isle and Twisted Meadows. Pin using the same strategy twice lost both games and for the first time, 17 going 18 CT.Serry goes to Germany.

Another fun event took place. Fans of Super Dancer Online(SDO) gather at the front to witness the dance battle which we saw M-Life-DiiDii taking the first prize. The amount of fans were tremendous but moreover it is good to see an online game being put into the WCG Malaysia.

FIFA 08 was the next game and after seeing the King of Asia, [W|nds]Si_Jali fall, we are wondering who would be going to Germany. The finals was between two [W|nds] player Vin and Loon. The first game was a simple and easy one with Vin winning it 2-0. In the next game, Vin beats Loon 4-2 in the most shots on target game of the day. The aggregate is 6-2 and Vin goes off to Germany

Finally we saw rival teams who played each other in the ESWC, Team Hybrid(rico, fions, sniggy, jabroniz, bbbmino) and Team LZ(Syck,Gavin,Nitron,Hix and StaiN) in Counter Strike. Team LZ will be taking revenge for what happen at the ESWC. Team LZ has a one game lead as they are from the winners bracket. The first 15 rounds started with Hybrid lead 3-0. However LZ performed well to make it 3-7. Hybrid loses thier form and gave away another 2 games,3-9. Hybrid take the last 3 games making it 6-9 but Gavin from LZ pulled a entertainment show by knifing a member of team Hybrid. The next 15 rounds after switching teams were played. Hybrid took the lead 2-0 with the second round seeing fions going on a spree killing all of team LZ. However LZ comes back to lead over Hybrid 2-5. LZ needs 2 more to go to Germany but will the ESWC incident repeat itself. Hybrid comes back from 3 down to lead over LZ 7-5. Looks like history is repeating. BUT, Team LZ knows this is no joke and takes the next 2 games making 7-7 and 13-16 in total. LZ goes to Germany.

It was a very good weekend and we at Spotgamers wish the whole Malaysia contigent that will be going to Germany all the best. Bring glory to Malaysia. See you next year at the WCG 2009.
